Thank you for your interest in the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May's Junior Sailing Program.

Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May Junior Sailing Program


The Curriculum
  • Boat Handling

  • Racing Strategies (Intermediate/Advanced)
  • Respect for the Environment

There will be a mandatory parent/guardian meeting on the first day of each session. The meeting will take approximately 10-15 minutes and will begin at 9 AM for the Morning class and 1 PM for the Afternoon class.

Requirements
  • For safety and comfort, participants must know how to swim and demonstrate comfort in the water. A swim check will be conducted on the first day of class (see item 4 under Please Note)
  • You are required to use and must bring your own well-fitting, USCG approved, Type III Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  • Water shoes or teva-style sandals are required; no flip-flops

Bring to Class
  • Whistle attached securely to PFD
  • Sunscreen, Sunglasses & Hat
  • Water Bottle
  • Towel
  • Change of Clothes
  • Windbreaker or Long-Sleeved Rash Guard

Please Note
  1. Parents assume full responsibility for the actions of their children; any violation of house rules may be cause for immediate dismissal from the sailing program. House Rules will be distributed and discussed at the mandatory parent meeting on the first day of class
  2. Sailing class refunds are not available after the first lesson of the session in which your child is enrolled
  3. Sailors must be 8 years of age on or prior to August 31 in order to participate
  4. The first day of class will include a swim-check that must show the ability to travel approximately 50 feet in the water, remain afloat without PFD for 2-3 minutes, then put on PFD while in the water in order to continue in the program. This swim check is done in groups of 3-4 participants
  5. Intermediate/Advanced sailors must have their own boat
  6. The Parent/Guardian Release and Convenant & Consent for Medical Treatment as well as the Leasing form (if a boat is to be leased) needs to be turned in the first day of class. Links to download those documents are included below

All days include a one-hour lunch break from 12-1 PM.

Non-Members, please register your child for the Junior Sailing Program using our public form. Only SCHOLARSHIP recipients should complete the Scholarship registration form after receiving confirmation from the providing organization.
