CYCCM's ladies-only series, The Lady Corinthians, ended its inaugural season on Wednesday August 27 with two critical races for the Sunfish fleet. Cookie Wilsey and Nancy Sayre traded first-place finishes, with Barbara O'Keefe in the top-three mix. Maureen Harris and Kathy Bennung were right there with them in fourth and fifth. Fred Beyer and David Sayre had the ladies sail a triangular course, and everyone handled the conditions well - it was a bit breezier than usual. Since it was the last night of the Series, trophies were awarded along with "paper-plate" awards to each sailor. All agreed that the first Lady Corinthians Series was a big success and everyone looks forward to next year, with new racing recruits expected. Many thanks to Fred and David for making the series possible.

Former head sailing instructor Eric Bennung swept the races, with John Wilsey, Rachel Bennung and Gerrit Schulze battling for second and third places. PC Brian McEwing ran the races, assisted by RC Leslie Fog and Patti Santelle.

The Commodore's Regatta was sailed on Sunday August 31, with the strongest, steadiest wind that our Sunday sailors have had all summer. Three one-lap "W"-course races were sailed, with the largest group of Optimists that we've had in weeks. Jim Knab and Dick O'Keefe controlled the first and second-place spots in Lasers, with Brian McEwing and Carol Flynn trading off first and second in the Sunfish, and with Charlotte List posting three firsts in the Optimist fleet and Erin O'Keefe and John Lord trading off second place finishes.
