Past Commodores

A Message from CYCCM's
first Commodore
As I was surfing the web one day and discovered your website. What a surprise and what nostalgia and memories were evoked. I am eighty and the Harbor Sailing Club seems as remote as the mastodon. Still I was the first Commodor and one of the original members of the club. My wife and I used to run the races from the top of the houseboat/clubhouse with a shotgun for a cannon and out first daughter asleep in a dresser drawer. It was great fun. Then in the evening we would all repair to Henry's bar (at the foot of Decatur St.) with beer and a slide rule, with a formua we got from yachting magazine, and figure out who was the winner. No small trick since the fleet consisted of a mixed collection of boats. I remember very excellent Port and Starboard Balls held at the old Admiral Hotel and the American Legion Home.

Life went on as I suppose it must and I was sent to Argentina by my employer (Pan Am Airways) and after that various wanderings about the world until winding up here in Miami. Except for a few brief visits before my Father died I have never been able to get back home. I find that as my age increases so does the sweet sadness, tho I am sure the Cape May of my youth is no longer in existence.
Regards to all of youAlex Moon
